Children have always loved playing with toys, and they have also always had great imagination (just how much fun can you have with a cardboard box anyway?). So in the Second World War, when certain materials became unavailable to make luxuries like children's playthings (coupled with rationing and general widespread poverty), children used simple materials that could be found around the house, added a sprinkling of imagination, and hey presto, you had a tank ready for battle!
The story of the cotton reel tank, and the sheer accessibility of it as a toy to children of all classes throughout the war (and for decades after the war as well), have seated it, with a well deserved reputation, in the grand Toy Hall of Fame (well... if there ever was one then it would be in it)!
Our WWII Cotton Reel Tank Kit comes with everything that you need to make your very own battle ready tank! Full assembly instructions are provided and also included is a printable template to turn your cotton reel tank into a Leonardo Da Vinci Tank (two toys in one!).
What you need:
- Access to a printer (for the Leonardo Da Vinci tank template)
- Imagination
- A belief in magic helps!
ATTENTION: Contains small parts. Not suitable for children under 3 years of age, or any individuals who have a tendancy to place inedible objects in their mouth. Parental supervision recommended.
